Earlier this year, we published Service Pack 2017.01 containing our new standard REST API that provides customers with access and update functions to the Andar database.
A number of customers have independently integrated third party products with Andar through direct access to the database. This has often caused data corruptions and system crashes which take everyone involved significant time and costs to diagnose and correct. Given that many more customers are looking at such integrations, this strategy could quickly spiral out of control. As Andar continues to grow and evolve, it becomes increasingly likely that some customer integration points could fail, corrupt data or cause Andar to fail altogether.
That is why we have created the API. This will provide a secure, reliable and non-corrupting data entry point for Andar. We have reached out to customers and service providers to work with us to ensure that the API provides the necessary functions.
Although we have suggested a mid-2018 date for everyone to switch to the new API, we are flexible and likely to extend this date to ensure everyone has sufficient time to migrate.
The intent here is to enable customers to safely integrate applications while ensuring that we can also continue to grow Andar to meet the requirements of our customers and their unique communities.
We encourage customers with specific requirements to add them to project 103722.
